[Dear Readers, as it seems I keep falling further behind the following list is a collection spanning several days. I have attempted to whittle the list down to things that are "new" or seem to be important developments, or are just plain interesting. I hope in doing this that it will allow me to "catch up" to the rest of the world, and bring you the links on a more timely basis again. Thanks for reading the Wausau Word! - Michelle K. -- PS This is getting posted a few days after I completed it here at Wausau Word due to problems with either my computer or the posting program not liking my long lists! )o:]

Date of Action: June 15 – August 1, 1944
Citation:
The Navy Cross is presented to Guy L. Gabaldon, Private First Class, U.S. Marine Corps (Reserve), for extraordinary heroism while serving with Headquarters and Service Company, Second Marines, Second Marine Division, in action against enemy Japanese forces on Saipan and Tinian, Marianas Islands, South Pacific Area, from 15 June to 1 August 1944. Acting as a Japanese Interpretor for the Second Marines, Private First Class Gabaldon displayed extreme courage and initiative in single-handedly capturing enemy civilian and military personnel during the Saipan and Tinian operations. Working alone in front of the lines, he daringly entered enemy caves, pillboxes, buildings, and jungle brush, frequently in the face of hostile fire, and succeeded in not only obtaining vital military information, but in capturing well over one thousand enemy civilians and troops. Through his valiant and distinguished exploits, Private First Class Gabaldon made an important contribution to the successful prosecution of the campaign and, through his efforts, a definite humane treatment of civilian prisoners was assured. His courageous and inspiring devotion to duty throughout reflects the highest credit upon himself and the United States Naval Service.Approved by the Secretary of the Navy on November 23, 1960 (Upgraded from Silver Star)

Something very odd is going on in the FBI, other federal law enforcement agencies, the Justice Department and perhaps the federal courts, too. Most people arrested on charges related to suspected terrorist activities aren’t being prosecuted. The Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse at Syracuse University, a watchdog group that often concentrates on the Justice Department, examined the records of 6,472 terrorism-connected federal cases started since the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.
Some 64 percent of the 4,910 “disposed of” were not prosecuted; another 9 percent were acquitted or saw charges dropped. [. . .]

Terrorists do not only learn their trade at isolated camps and underground bombmaking faciilities, but also learn the ideas and methods that guide their work over the Internet. - “JIHAD THROUGH FORCED CONVERSION: FOX JOURNALISTS CENTANNI & WIIG – HOSTAGES FOR LIFE” – by Beila Rabinowitz – PipelineNews.org – 4 September 2006
QUOTE:
The Islamist jihad against the West took a chilling turn a little more than a week ago, when two FOX News journalists, Steve Centanni and his photographer Olaf Wiig – who had been kidnapped in gaza a few weeks earlier and held at gunpoint – were forced to convert to Islam as a precondition for their release, their captors telling them that they had to “convert to Islam or die”.[. . .]
The central fact of this case is that although both Olaf Wiig and Steve Centanni have been released, they remain hostages in perpetuity – forced to live under a potential death sentence. Though their “conversion” saved them from immediate execution, any public repudiation of it would mark them as targets for murder as apostates.
According to international law forced conversion under threat of death is considere invalid and the same opinion could also be issued by an Islamic court. However, the jihadi interpretation is clear – once a convert to Islam any attempt to renounce it is punishable by death. In short, both FOX journalists are now hostages of Allah.[. . .]
