[NOTES: A San Diego, California TV reporter, John Mattes, needed to be hospitalized after being brutally beaten by a couple he tried to question regarding possible identity theft. The couple was identified by the California station as Sam Sulieman and Rosa Baraza, who have both been arrested. Mattes reportedly suffered bite wounds as well as facial injuries consistent with being punched. There is videotape of the assault taken before his photographer tried to stop the couple from beating on Mattes. It is reported that the couple did not stop their attack until a policeman, with gun drawn, was able to intervene.
